Hey neighbors! Have you ever walked down Beverly Street and wondered about the stories those magnificent old buildings could tell? Well, wonder no more! Our beloved Historic Downtown Walking Tour is back, and it's truly one of the best ways to get to know the heart and soul of our beautiful Staunton. This isn't just any old stroll; it's like a friendly chat with a knowledgeable friend who happens to know all the juicy historical tidbits about our Victorian-era architecture. You'll spend about an hour and a half with a fantastic guide, learning about the intricate details of these grand old structures and the fascinating folks who built and lived in them. From the nooks and crannies to the grand facades, you'll see our downtown in a whole new light. It’s perfect for newcomers and longtime residents alike to there’s always something new to discover, even if you’ve walked these streets a thousand times. We'll kick things off right at the Staunton Visitor Center, located at 35 S New St. It's a great starting point, right in the thick of things. The Visitor Center itself is a welcoming spot, full of local information, and a convenient place to gather before we head out on our adventure. The atmosphere of downtown Staunton, especially on a crisp Saturday morning, is just delightful to a mix of quiet charm and the gentle hum of our local businesses waking up. Now, for a few practical notes: these tours happen every Saturday morning at 10 AM, so if you miss January 31st, no worries, you can catch it another time! We do recommend arriving a few minutes early to get settled. Parking is usually pretty easy to find in the downtown garages or metered spots nearby. Since we'll be on our feet, comfortable shoes are a must! And depending on the weather, a light jacket, water bottle, or even an umbrella might come in handy. Our downtown is quite accessible, but it is a walking tour, so be prepared for some gentle inclines and uneven sidewalks. At just $10 a person, it’s a wonderful way to support our local history efforts and spend a Saturday morning connecting with our community and its past. So, why not treat yourself to a little historical exploration? Grab a friend, bring the family, and come uncover the hidden gems of our charming downtown. We'd love to see you there!
